SINGAPORE – Close to 1.2 million Singaporean households, or about 90 per cent of the 1.33 million households, have claimed their $300 CDC vouchers that were

launched on Jan 3.

More than $132 million has been spent at participating hawker stalls, heartland merchants’ stores and supermarkets.

This was shared by Ms Low Yen Ling, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry, as well as Culture, Community and Youth, in a Facebook post on Jan 23.

The vouchers can be used at 23,000 heartland merchants’ stores and hawker stalls; and eight supermarket chains, with about 400 outlets involved. Half of the vouchers can be used at the supermarkets, and the other half at the hawker stalls and heartland merchants. They are valid until Dec 31.

The latest tranche of vouchers is part of

enhancements to the Assurance Package

to help cushion the impact of cost-of-living increases. The first half – $300 in CDC vouchers – was disbursed in June 2024.

The launch of the vouchers was also one of the first events in 2025 by the Community Development Councils (CDCs) to kick off Singapore’s diamond jubilee, or SG60, celebrations, said Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong at their launch.

Ms Low, who is also chairwoman of the mayors’ committee and Mayor of South West District, said the growth and success of the CDC vouchers scheme reflect the vibrant collaboration between participating merchants, partners and volunteers.

“Our student volunteers, digital ambassadors and CDC ambassadors help expand the use and adoption of CDC vouchers and enhance digital savviness,” she said. “We are heartened that more of our older residents have learnt to use digital CDC vouchers with guidance from our ambassadors.”

She also noted that in 2024, several private heartland coffee shops stepped up to offer budget meal options to residents using CDC vouchers, providing Singaporeans with greater access to more affordable meals.

Some hawkers, heartland merchants and supermarkets have also

organised promotions and initiatives

to help residents maximise the value of their vouchers.

“We hope that the CDC vouchers will come in handy for the coming festive season by providing much-needed support for Singaporean households and boosting the businesses of our hawkers and heartland merchants,” she added.
