I watched the video circulating on social media of an incident where boys were filmed bullying a Qihua Primary School pupil ( Police investigating incident involving boys filmed hitting primary school pupil,
It was brutal seeing how the small-sized boy was punched and kicked mercilessly by a bigger boy who looked at least three years his senior. Another boy later joined in the attack. The video ended without showing whether the boy was able to get back on his feet.
The school said it was aware of the incident, had counselled the students involved, and is working closely with the parents to ensure their well-being.
The police said they are investigating the case.
I am surprised that the school seems to have taken the incident lightly.
Did the school, for instance, show concern for the victim by encouraging him to go for a thorough medical check-up to see if he has internal injuries?
As for the bullies, the authorities should consider if sending them for reformative training is warranted after investigating the case.
