WASHINGTON - Friday's escalation of tariffs on each other by China and the United States, and President Donald Trump tweeting "We don't need China", has raised questions whether the two powers even want to, let alone can, find an off ramp in an accelerating struggle for global ascendancy.
Trade is just a part of the struggle.
