WASHINGTON - US President Donald Trump tightened the screws on China with the announcement of new tariffs on Monday (Sept 17), putting the ball in China's court in his ongoing trade war with Beijing.
While the new round of tariffs on roughly US$200 billion of imports from China was widely expected, this was not as harsh as anticipated. The tariffs would be phased in, albeit rapidly, instead of being imposed at one go as widely speculated earlier.
