LONDON - The European Union’s (EU) Digital Services Act – requiring large online platforms and search engines to do more to tackle illegal content and risks to public security – came into force throughout the continent at the start of this week.
EU officials hail it as a key weapon in their fight to stop the spread of misinformation online that could sway voters in the run-up to the European Parliament elections scheduled for early June.
