SINGAPORE - Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight champion Holly Holm will headline the mixed martial arts promoter's Singapore event on June 17.

Holm, popularly known as the fighter who in 2015 dethroned Ronda Rousey with a stunning knockout, will take on Bethe Correia in a bantamweight bout at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The 35-year-old Holm began her MMA career in impressive fashion, winning 10 straight fights with seven knockouts. The last of her wins came against a then seemingly unstoppable Rousey, who had held on to the bantamweight belt for three years.

However, the New Mexico native has suffered three straight defeats since her famous win over Rousey. She lost her title to Miesha Tate, and then endured losses against Valentina Shevchenko and Germaine de Randamie.

Holm, a skilled kickboxer, will look to end her losing streak against Correia, who is trained in traditional martial arts and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. In 2015, Correia had also challenged Rousey for the bantamweight title but was knocked out after 34 seconds.

This will be UFC's second event in Singapore after its inaugural fight night in 2014. Other tantalising match-ups on the fight card include a welterweight clash between former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos and Tarec Saffiedine, as well as a titanic duel in the heavyweight division between Andrei Arlovski and Marcin Tybura.

A UFC spokesman said this is not the final list of bouts. A UFC fight card typically comprises between 10 and 13 fights.
