Singapore Athletics (SA) president Lien Choong Luen believes his association's new hire as general manager will not be hamstrung, despite having no background in the sport.

SA announced the appointment of Gerald Ng as its GM in an e-mail to affiliates yesterday. Ng, 31, will begin his new role on Feb 1.
