SINGAPORE - When people around Thai national Parada Sritaragul learnt that she was marrying a Singaporean church worker, they asked if she was bothered that he earned less than her.

They even told Ms Sritaragul, 31, an account manager at a marketing communications agency in Singapore, that she could probably find a better match than her husband, Mr Jeremy Lim, 32.
