The tit-for-tat tariff war between the world's two largest economies has dragged on for more than a year, rattling markets and hurting global growth.

For a second time, United States President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have agreed to a truce, consenting to resume stalled trade talks and suspend new tariffs. But, unlike before, they have not indicated a deadline to reach a deal.
