Outsiders cannot halt the growing hostility that threatens global peace and prosperity. But they are not helpless either.

Where does deepening economic conflict between the United States and China leave the rest of the world, especially historic allies of the US?

In normal circumstances, the latter would stand beside it. The European Union, after all, shares many of its concerns about Chinese behaviour.
