Mystery and confusion continue to surround the whereabouts of Wirecard Asia director Edo Kurniawan, the senior accounting executive at the heart of the fraud scandal engulfing the German fintech giant.

On the one hand, Wirecard told investigators that it had lost contact with Mr Kurniawan since Feb 9, according to court papers filed by state prosecutors here for a case on Monday.
