Melvyn joined The Straits Times as a sports journalist in July 2023 after 2½ years in e-sports marketing. He currently covers the para-sports, school sports and e-sports beats. He developed an interest in chess after covering the World Chess Championship in Singapore. Outside work, he is a Chelsea fan and also a foodie who will travel anywhere for good food.
