NEW DELHI - United States President Joe Biden's announcement of an American troop withdrawal from Afghanistan is expected to increase the influence of regional players, particularly Pakistan, in the strife-torn country.

But the decision has also stoked fears that instability in Afghanistan could spread elsewhere in South Asia.
