KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s decision to appoint six Cabinet members from his former rival Umno will effectively create a team of Umno leaders who will look to consolidating their own leadership positions ahead of a looming party election.

This would help ensure Datuk Seri Anwar’s and Zahid Hamidi’s longevity as head of government and deputy prime minister, respectively.
