BANGKOK - Thailand is closer to legalising same-sex marriage than it has ever been. A marriage equality Bill currently being vetted is expected to be put up for a Senate vote around June, having sailed through the House of Representatives as well as the Upper House on its first reading.

The Bill, once passed, will introduce changes that go far beyond other countries in Asia where same-sex marriage is legal.
