Beijing and Hong Kongers must share blame for city losing its shine as a thriving place to live

What a difference a decade can make.

Watching the intensity of the passions gripping the crowds turning up in downtown Hong Kong to protest against the extradition Bill and Beijing's tightening grip on the territory, it strains credulity that the same people were so filled with China pride when the mainland hosted the Summer Olympics in 2008.
