NEW DELHI – Vote buying is not a new phenomenon in India, but the 2024 elections have already set a dubious new record.
The Election Commission on April 15 said its seizure of dirty money, drugs, alcohol and other inducements likely intended for wooing voters has already surpassed the record level seen in the last elections in 2019.
